Historically, the Obi has served as a fundamental divination system, believed to have inspired the creation of Runes and the I-Ching. The Orisas, nature deities, were initially introduced, adapted, and ultimately anthropomorphized by the Ancient Greeks. The enduring survival and resurgence of this esoteric oral tradition embody a spirituality deeply connected to both Mother Nature and the wisdom of one's intuition and ancestors.

In 2005, UNESCO recognized the Ifá Divination system as one of the "Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity."
